A quote to remember

"And if I go while you’re still here… know that I live on, vibrating to a different measure behind a thin veil you cannot see through. You will not see me so you must have faith. I wait the time when we can soar again, both aware of each other. Until then, live your life to its fullest, and when you need me just whisper my name in your heart…I will be there." ~Author Unknown

The Song of the Banana Man

Kade kicked like mad whenever I read this to him. He seemed to have liked it. I am sure many of you will remember this poem and smile as childhood memories of reading or reciting it come back to you.

The Song of the Banana Man by Evan Jones.

Touris, white man, wipin his face,
Met me in Golden Grove market place.
He looked at m'ol' clothes brown wid stain ,
AN soaked right through wid de Portlan rain,
He cas his eye, turn up his nose,
He says, 'You're a beggar man, I suppose?'

He says, 'Boy, get some occupation,
Be of some value to your nation.'
I said, 'By God and dis big right han
You mus recognize a banana man.

'Up in de hills, where de streams are cool,
An mullet an janga swim in de pool,
I have ten acres of mountain side,
An a dainty-foot donkey dat I ride,
Four Gros Michel, an four Lacatan,
Some coconut trees, and some hills of yam,
An I pasture on dat very same lan
Five she-goats an a big black ram,
Dat, by God an dis big right han
Is de property of a banana man.

'I leave m'yard early-mornin time
An set m'foot to de mountain climb,
I ben m'back to de hot-sun toil,
An m'cutlass rings on de stony soil,
Ploughin an weedin, diggin an plantin
Till Massa Sun drop back o John Crow mountain,
Den home again in cool evenin time,
Perhaps whistling dis likkle rhyme,
(Sung)Praise God an m'big right han
I will live an die a banana man.

Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day

There will come a time when you believe everything is finished.
That will be the beginning."
-Louis L'Amour-

"To live in the hearts we leave behind is not to die." ~ Thomas Campbell~

Last night all across the world candles were lit for the little ones we lost too soon.

I dedicated my lights to my son Kade, my nephew Mark and a little angel named Solace whose mummy has given me much strength during this time.

I hope all our angel babies are smiling where they are now. We love you little ones and always will...

Water never waits. It changes shape and flows around things, and finds the secret paths no one else has thought about.
-Memoirs of a Geisha-

Be like water, flow...

Be like water flow... whatever may block your way flow around it, adapt and adjust and flow. Problems become less of a hassle when we can flow.
Anything can come your way, if pushing it out of the way does not help, dance around it and flow around it.There is always a way to make things work, life is not as comlpicated and difficult as we make it seem, but when one does become trapped, carve a new path, make things work for you.
Frustration will only be yours if you accept it. Understand, accept, and find the path around the problem.

I have heard many people say, " All I want is to be happy!". With these words, they sit around and spend life in agony wondering when they will ever be happy, when will happiness 'find them' and if they will ever have peace.
I chanced upon a conversation with a friend about this very same topic and I offered him some advice with regard to this.

Happiness is not something to be waited on, you will sit forever and wait for it. Everyone wants to be happy and they spend so much time preparing for when the time comes for them to be happy or worrying that they will never be happy, that they let happiness pass them by.
Happiness is not a big moment we are to be waiting on, happiness is every day, every moment... the little things.
The little joys that each moment brings, be it a sweet sound or a cool breeze. It is in the little smiles we accumalate each day and in the little joys we ourselves create.
Stop waiting for happiness to come to you and realise you are happy , and that you need to live and stop waiting for the time to live, stop waiting for enough money or enough time or enough people to do something you want to do and enjoy your life.
Time flies and in the time you waste waiting for life to be happy and to be right, you'll miss all the great moments of your life and never get them back.

So take your days and hours and minutes and live, really live, do not wait for things to come to you, work towards them and revel in all the little things along the way...

The first one...

For the longest while I have been postponing my writing for one reason or the other...
So this is my attempt at getting some inspiration by writing about my everyday life and past experiences etc as well as update friends and family how things are with me here in Trinidad.

So welcome to my new blog and I hope that you do enjoy my posts to come and I hope I can fill its pages and keep you entertained and informed.
